Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.60%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Retail, Construction and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.60%, while the MDAX index fell 1.08%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.50%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which rose 1.64% or 0.64 points to trade at 39.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) added 0.89% or 0.29 points to end at 32.90 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) was up 0.87% or 1.00 points to 116.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which fell 5.63% or 1.34 points to trade at 22.46 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) declined 3.70% or 1.39 points to end at 36.15 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was down 3.37% or 1.32 points to 37.80.

The top performers on the MDAX were GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) which rose 3.74% to 43.53, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was up 2.18% to settle at 34.76 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which gained 1.65% to close at 47.92.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 10.21% to 20.41 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which lost 5.30% to settle at 2.52 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 4.61% to 7.55 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which rose 1.65% to 47.92, Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was up 1.63% to settle at 29.88 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 0.97% to close at 17.76.

The worst performers were Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was down 5.19% to 102.40 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 2.92% to settle at 69.90 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.42% to 28.59 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 460 to 223 and 76 ended unchanged.

Shares in Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.89% or 0.29 to 32.90. Shares in Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.87% or 1.00 to 116.00. Shares in GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.74% or 1.57 to 43.53.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.64% to 17.93.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.86% or 34.55 to $1,820.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.06% or 2.46 to hit $78.00 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.73% or 2.35 to trade at $83.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.08% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.09% at 105.46.
