Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.60%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Retail, Construction and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.60%, while the MDAX index declined 0.85%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.70%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn), which rose 1.69% or 3.00 points to trade at 180.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) added 1.45% or 1.42 points to end at 99.44 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was up 1.42% or 0.74 points to 53.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which fell 3.25% or 0.37 points to trade at 11.01 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 2.48% or 0.96 points to end at 37.95 and E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) was down 2.28% or 0.29 points to 12.23.

The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 2.80% to 100.00, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.73% to settle at 20.04 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which gained 1.27% to close at 2.40.

The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 6.96% to 28.40 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 5.43% to settle at 54.85 and Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was down 4.73% to 88.60 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which rose 7.38% to 75.70, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 6.87% to settle at 35.00 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 2.80% to close at 100.00.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 5.43% to 54.85 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which lost 2.80% to settle at 36.14 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.68% to 9.84 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 355 to 280 and 34 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.93% to 13.01.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.07% or 1.45 to $2,037.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.63% or 1.89 to hit $73.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.65% or 2.03 to trade at $78.58 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 102.17.
