Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.95%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Software and Retail sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.95%, while the MDAX index declined 1.36%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.75%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 4.61% or 16.10 points to trade at 365.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) added 1.13% or 2.60 points to end at 232.60 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was up 1.06% or 4.30 points to 410.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which fell 4.96% or 1.70 points to trade at 32.56 at the close. SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) declined 2.98% or 5.00 points to end at 162.76 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was down 2.86% or 0.76 points to 25.82.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 5.69% to 33.06, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which was up 2.05% to settle at 37.75 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which gained 1.27% to close at 67.75.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 8.12% to 12.11 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 4.29% to settle at 13.60 and Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which was down 4.24% to 12.07 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 5.69% to 33.06, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 0.59% to settle at 64.88 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 0.47% to close at 33.86.

The worst performers were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was down 4.96% to 32.56 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 4.29% to settle at 13.60 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 4.07% to 88.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 450 to 161 and 41 ended unchanged.

Shares in Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) rose to all time highs; rising 4.61% or 16.10 to 365.00. Shares in Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) rose to all time highs; rising 1.13% or 2.60 to 232.60. Shares in Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) rose to all time highs; up 1.06% or 4.30 to 410.60. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.59% or 0.38 to 64.88.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.79% to 14.19.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.23% or 24.95 to $2,008.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.30% or 1.00 to hit $77.92 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.82 to trade at $82.82 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 104.70.
