Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.22%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Construction and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.22%, while the MDAX index fell 2.05%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.62%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p), which rose 1.09% or 1.62 points to trade at 150.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) added 0.84% or 3.60 points to end at 429.80 and Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn) was up 0.44% or 0.75 points to 172.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which fell 3.78% or 1.19 points to trade at 30.29 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) declined 3.26% or 1.44 points to end at 42.77 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was down 3.15% or 1.35 points to 41.46.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 4.12% to 48.07, Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which was up 1.99% to settle at 7.79 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which gained 1.50% to close at 55.54.

The worst performers were Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was down 29.65% to 23.77 in late trade, Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which lost 18.26% to settle at 3.98 and Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was down 6.99% to 58.28 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 2.47% to 20.34, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 2.36% to settle at 54.25 and Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which gained 2.02% to close at 101.20.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 3.42% to 63.45 in late trade, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which lost 2.89% to settle at 25.50 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 2.36% to 9.91 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 498 to 164 and 92 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) fell to 5-year lows; falling 29.65% or 10.02 to 23.77. Shares in Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) fell to all time lows; losing 18.26% or 0.89 to 3.98. Shares in Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.89% or 0.76 to 25.50.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.81% to 27.24.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.45% or 7.65 to $1,709.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.58% or 2.25 to hit $89.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.20% or 2.05 to trade at $95.22 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 109.18.
