Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.31%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Construction, Retail and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.31%, while the MDAX index declined 1.55%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.73%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which rose 2.20% or 0.80 points to trade at 37.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn) added 0.84% or 1.40 points to end at 168.35 and Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 0.63% or 0.15 points to 24.03 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 7.35% or 0.85 points to trade at 10.67 at the close. Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) declined 4.49% or 1.46 points to end at 31.03 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was down 3.47% or 2.68 points to 74.52.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which rose 1.55% to 37.92, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was up 1.14% to settle at 19.57 and Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which gained 1.01% to close at 89.85.

The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 5.33% to 56.88 in late trade, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which lost 5.05% to settle at 33.31 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 4.57% to 60.62 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 2.21% to 81.10, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was up 1.14% to settle at 19.57 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which gained 0.90% to close at 19.16.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 4.45% to 14.38 in late trade, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which lost 3.77% to settle at 15.30 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 2.85% to 15.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 552 to 120 and 84 ended unchanged.

Shares in Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.01% or 0.90 to 89.85. Shares in ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) fell to all time lows; down 3.77% or 0.60 to 15.30.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 14.13% to 19.87.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.75% or 32.05 to $1,866.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.40% or 1.06 to hit $76.78 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 1.24 to trade at $82.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.81% at 104.46.
