Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.66%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Transportation&Logistics, Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.66%, while the MDAX index lost 2.09%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.78%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG), which rose 0.72% or 0.40 points to trade at 56.24 at the close. Meanwhile, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) added 0.44% or 0.11 points to end at 25.23 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 0.41% or 0.10 points to 24.42 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 7.68% or 32.20 points to trade at 387.20 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DPWGn) declined 6.58% or 2.36 points to end at 33.42 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was down 4.11% or 6.65 points to 155.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 4.75% to 8.81, Duerr AG (ETR:DUEG) which was up 2.13% to settle at 22.08 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 1.20% to close at 67.28.

The worst performers were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) which was down 5.57% to 12.30 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which lost 5.28% to settle at 129.05 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 4.90% to 2.37 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 1.19% to 20.47, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was up 0.48% to settle at 25.02 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which gained 0.33% to close at 15.15.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 7.68% to 387.20 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 4.90% to settle at 2.37 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which was down 3.96% to 18.92 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 547 to 147 and 67 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DPWGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.58% or 2.36 to 33.42. Shares in MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.11% or 6.65 to 155.00. Shares in Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) fell to all time lows; falling 5.57% or 0.73 to 12.30.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.34% to 27.62.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 6.90 to $1,684.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.55% or 0.47 to hit $85.57 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.84 to trade at $91.68 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 109.46.
