Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.92%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Media and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.92%, while the MDAX index declined 2.23%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.19%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which fell 0.17% or 0.09 points to trade at 53.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) fell 0.62% or 0.14 points to end at 21.74 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was down 0.78% or 1.55 points to 196.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which fell 5.41% or 1.93 points to trade at 33.72 at the close. Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) declined 3.86% or 4.65 points to end at 115.70 and Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) was down 3.64% or 1.06 points to 28.09.

The top performers on the MDAX were Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVKn) which rose 2.77% to 20.23, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 0.25% to settle at 2.76 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 0.42% to close at 14.28.

The worst performers were Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which was down 8.86% to 105.90 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which lost 6.17% to settle at 0.98 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was down 4.92% to 61.80 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which rose 0.05% to 19.66, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 33.60 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 0.25% to close at 2.76.

The worst performers were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was down 5.41% to 33.72 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which lost 4.86% to settle at 14.39 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which was down 4.49% to 11.92 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 548 to 106 and 95 ended unchanged.

Shares in Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) fell to all time lows; falling 6.17% or 0.06 to 0.98. Shares in Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) fell to all time lows; losing 4.49% or 0.56 to 11.92.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 16.02% to 20.28.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.57% or 11.25 to $1,963.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.49% or 0.36 to hit $73.27 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.30 to trade at $77.14 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 103.78.
