Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.02%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Food&Beverages and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Consumer&Cyclical sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.02%, while the MDAX index fell 0.83%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.33%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which rose 8.73% or 2.22 points to trade at 27.66 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) added 1.67% or 0.69 points to end at 42.04 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was up 1.67% or 5.50 points to 335.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 3.72% or 13.40 points to trade at 347.10 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 2.85% or 0.93 points to end at 31.69 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 2.47% or 4.20 points to 165.50.

The top performers on the MDAX were Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which rose 2.15% to 46.60, RTL Group SA (ETR:RRTL) which was up 1.95% to settle at 39.64 and Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which gained 1.53% to close at 58.32.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 8.79% to 110.00 in late trade, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which lost 6.33% to settle at 30.78 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 5.58% to 1.02 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which rose 3.48% to 16.95, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was up 0.55% to settle at 3.12 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which gained 0.48% to close at 26.97.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 8.79% to 110.00 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 4.82% to settle at 32.19 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 4.49% to 18.73 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 352 to 304 and 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.15% or 0.98 to 46.60. Shares in Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) fell to all time lows; losing 5.58% or 0.06 to 1.02. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.82% or 1.63 to 32.19.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.86% to 18.73.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.43% or 8.70 to $2,041.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.85% or 0.62 to hit $72.54 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.81 to trade at $76.20 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.38% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.47.
