Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.11%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food&Beverages, Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.11%, while the MDAX index declined 1.10%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 4.25% or 12.20 points to trade at 299.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) added 3.63% or 12.10 points to end at 345.30 and Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 3.38% or 0.95 points to 29.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 2.28% or 0.49 points to trade at 20.96 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 1.96% or 0.74 points to end at 37.06 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was down 1.72% or 0.49 points to 28.05.

The top performers on the MDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which rose 2.52% to 23.62, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 2.38% to settle at 24.98 and RTL Group SA (ETR:RRTL) which gained 2.06% to close at 35.68.

The worst performers were Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which was down 5.52% to 14.73 in late trade, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which lost 5.40% to settle at 23.66 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 4.73% to 2.36 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 3.63% to 345.30, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 2.88% to settle at 34.98 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 2.52% to close at 23.62.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 4.22% to 37.03 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 3.65% to settle at 28.79 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 3.35% to 20.78 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 322 to 321 and 33 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.93% to 14.47 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.15% or 3.15 to $2,074.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.07% or 0.77 to hit $70.88 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.65 to trade at $76.39 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.81% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.77% at 101.81.
