Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.21%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Retail, Transportation&Logistics and Food&Beverages sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.21%, while the MDAX index gained 0.23%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.16%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which rose 2.39% or 0.65 points to trade at 27.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 2.30% or 0.33 points to end at 14.68 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 2.13% or 0.20 points to 9.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 5.13% or 15.80 points to trade at 291.90 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 3.54% or 5.40 points to end at 147.20 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was down 2.25% or 0.93 points to 40.49.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 6.26% to 38.59, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 4.07% to settle at 22.24 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which gained 3.22% to close at 32.10.

The worst performers were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which was down 5.47% to 41.67 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 5.13% to settle at 96.72 and Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was down 5.08% to 99.95 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which rose 2.85% to 12.97, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was up 1.51% to settle at 2.62 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which gained 1.11% to close at 9.25.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 5.13% to 96.72 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 5.13% to settle at 291.90 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 3.91% to 25.81 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 327 to 310 and 105 ended unchanged.

Shares in Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.13% or 5.23 to 96.72. Shares in Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.13% or 5.23 to 96.72. Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.13% or 15.80 to 291.90.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.87% to 15.57.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.52% or 10.05 to $1,923.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.97% or 1.37 to hit $68.00 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.00% or 1.49 to trade at $72.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 102.15.
