Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.24%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Food&Beverages and Chemicals sectors led shares higher while losses in the Retail, Construction and Transportation&Logistics sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.24% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index declined 1.21%, and the TecDAX index added 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 3.90% or 6.90 points to trade at 183.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) added 3.64% or 3.86 points to end at 110.00 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 3.39% or 0.63 points to 19.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which fell 8.88% or 2.56 points to trade at 26.26 at the close. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) declined 4.89% or 1.13 points to end at 22.00 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was down 4.01% or 1.01 points to 24.18.

The top performers on the MDAX were Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which rose 4.12% to 22.24, Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which was up 2.51% to settle at 27.74 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which gained 2.42% to close at 65.50.

The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 7.21% to 6.31 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which lost 5.57% to settle at 64.06 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 5.12% to 20.40 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 5.93% to 51.10, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was up 4.12% to settle at 22.24 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which gained 3.39% to close at 19.30.

The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 11.63% to 32.66 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 8.64% to settle at 24.94 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 4.57% to 25.29 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 350 to 310 and 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.88% or 2.56 to 26.26. Shares in HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.12% or 1.10 to 20.40. Shares in CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) fell to 5-year lows; losing 11.63% or 4.30 to 32.66.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.02% to 24.85 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.16% or 19.35 to $1,646.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.65% or 1.47 to hit $87.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.64% or 1.56 to trade at $93.48 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.39% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 110.73.
