Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.31%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food&Beverages, Financial Services and Insurance sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.31% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index declined 0.40%, and the TecDAX index added 0.02%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which rose 3.83% or 1.10 points to trade at 29.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) added 1.74% or 1.76 points to end at 102.68 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 1.71% or 0.31 points to 18.46 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which fell 7.39% or 12.80 points to trade at 160.50 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 3.84% or 1.44 points to end at 36.07 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 1.51% or 2.50 points to 163.44.

The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which rose 4.82% to 641.50, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was up 3.98% to settle at 1.26 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which gained 2.79% to close at 7.08.

The worst performers were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which was down 5.16% to 9.57 in late trade, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which lost 4.21% to settle at 30.95 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 3.93% to 10.04 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 3.45% to 18.00, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 2.02% to settle at 64.76 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which gained 1.25% to close at 97.45.

The worst performers were ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 3.93% to 10.04 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.28% to settle at 33.60 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 3.04% to 29.94 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 345 to 313 and 92 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.41% to 18.26 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.17% or 3.45 to $2,022.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.28% or 1.86 to hit $83.39 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.04% or 1.75 to trade at $87.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.79% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.69% at 101.18.
