Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.35%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation&Logistics, Technology and Food&Beverages sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.35% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index gained 0.63%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p), which rose 3.09% or 3.20 points to trade at 106.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DPWGn) added 2.30% or 0.90 points to end at 40.06 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was up 2.20% or 4.90 points to 227.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 3.70% or 1.64 points to trade at 42.74 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) declined 1.61% or 6.70 points to end at 408.20 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was down 1.48% or 2.95 points to 197.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which rose 7.77% to 22.62, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was up 5.28% to settle at 139.55 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which gained 4.49% to close at 60.55.

The worst performers were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 2.93% to 79.60 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which lost 2.76% to settle at 74.64 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 2.24% to 8.52 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which rose 4.49% to 60.55, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 3.53% to settle at 22.61 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 3.21% to close at 24.15.

The worst performers were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 2.93% to 79.60 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 2.40% to settle at 33.38 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 1.61% to 408.20 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 366 to 322 and 75 ended unchanged.

Shares in MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.20% or 4.90 to 227.50.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.19% to 18.71.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.66% or 12.65 to $1,909.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $80.00 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.85 to trade at $85.31 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 102.20.
