Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.35%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Retail and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.35%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.24%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which rose 5.56% or 2.65 points to trade at 50.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 4.50% or 1.26 points to end at 29.28 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 4.08% or 0.77 points to 19.76 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which fell 1.86% or 0.96 points to trade at 50.54 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) declined 1.79% or 0.35 points to end at 19.40 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) was down 1.49% or 1.70 points to 112.55.

The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which rose 5.02% to 659.00, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was up 4.85% to settle at 9.85 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which gained 4.13% to close at 30.28.

The worst performers were Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which was down 2.49% to 63.52 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 1.68% to settle at 2.45 and Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was down 1.40% to 22.60 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which rose 8.43% to 225.00, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was up 3.93% to settle at 38.87 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which gained 3.34% to close at 29.67.

The worst performers were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was down 1.86% to 50.54 in late trade, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which lost 1.79% to settle at 19.40 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 1.68% to 2.45 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 403 to 252 and 89 ended unchanged.

Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.56% or 2.65 to 50.30. Shares in Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) rose to all time highs; up 8.43% or 17.50 to 225.00. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.34% or 0.96 to 29.67.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.53% to 15.16.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.28% or 25.10 to $1,981.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.27% or 1.68 to hit $75.76 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 1.44 to trade at $79.94 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 99.73.
