Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.44%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Food&Beverages and Industrials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Technology and Retail sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.44% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index declined 0.24%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (ETR:ALVG), which rose 2.13% or 5.30 points to trade at 253.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 1.97% or 0.28 points to end at 14.21 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was up 1.76% or 0.87 points to 50.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG), which fell 3.74% or 5.15 points to trade at 132.55 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) declined 1.65% or 0.47 points to end at 28.09 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was down 1.56% or 0.17 points to 10.69.

The top performers on the MDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 14.88% to 55.05, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 9.44% to settle at 10.55 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which gained 6.56% to close at 46.62.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 18.82% to 25.63 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 4.58% to settle at 12.81 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 2.48% to 1.63 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 14.88% to 55.05, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 9.44% to settle at 10.55 and Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which gained 2.77% to close at 66.80.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 18.82% to 25.63 in late trade, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which lost 5.94% to settle at 82.30 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 1.87% to 13.64 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 340 to 281 and 31 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.56% or 2.87 to 46.62.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 12.88.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.55% or 11.15 to $2,053.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.92% or 0.72 to hit $79.26 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.63 to trade at $82.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 104.04.
