Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.26%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food&Beverages, Software and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Consumer&Cyclical and Retail sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.26%, while the MDAX index lost 0.22%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.33%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which rose 4.44% or 2.30 points to trade at 54.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) added 2.96% or 0.36 points to end at 12.39 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was up 1.14% or 3.70 points to 328.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which fell 2.71% or 1.33 points to trade at 47.75 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) declined 2.16% or 0.63 points to end at 28.28 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 2.08% or 3.66 points to 172.46.

The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 3.49% to 102.00, CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was up 3.42% to settle at 65.00 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 2.15% to close at 28.50.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.28% to 13.56 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which lost 4.17% to settle at 12.54 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 4.12% to 11.86 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which rose 4.44% to 54.16, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 3.49% to settle at 102.00 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which gained 3.10% to close at 40.62.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.28% to 13.56 in late trade, Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which lost 2.94% to settle at 247.50 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.46% to 9.29 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 415 to 217 and 34 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.16% or 0.63 to 28.28. Shares in Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.28% or 0.76 to 13.56. Shares in Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.28% or 0.76 to 13.56.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.47% to 14.14.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.55% or 11.40 to $2,078.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.19% or 0.90 to hit $76.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.90 to trade at $81.45 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 102.90.
