
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Auto and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 5.65% or 8.00 points to trade at 149.70 at the close. Meanwhile, JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) added 3.04% or 23.75 points to end at 804.40 and Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 3.14% or 56.55 points to 1,856.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 1.92% or 9.10 points to trade at 466.05 at the close. Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) declined 2.08% or 25.20 points to end at 1,186.95 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was down 1.47% or 53.50 points to 3,579.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 5.16% to 148.85, Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 3.05% to settle at 1,856.75 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 1.47% to close at 1,570.35.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.51% to 3,578.15 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 0.87% to settle at 2,585.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.21% to 2,299.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1121 to 1075 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1932 rose and 1865 declined, while 109 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.21% or 28.20 to 2,299.70.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.50% to 13.90.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.09% or 1.90 to $2,159.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.86% or 0.69 to hit $81.27 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.62 to trade at $85.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 82.91, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 90.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.04.
