
Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, IT and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 1.43% or 20.95 points to trade at 1,484.70 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 1.37% or 5.80 points to end at 428.55 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 1.30% or 19.90 points to 1,547.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 1.80% or 10.75 points to trade at 587.75 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) declined 1.62% or 36.85 points to end at 2,241.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was down 1.59% or 145.10 points to 9,001.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which rose 1.48% to 1,550.45, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 1.23% to settle at 1,675.50 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 1.18% to close at 1,769.35.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.38% to 7,181.40 in late trade, Larsen&Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 1.37% to settle at 3,748.00 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 1.42% to 9,864.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1237 to 923 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2196 rose and 1403 declined, while 116 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.41% to 11.49.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 1.20 to $2,307.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.14% or 0.12 to hit $86.47 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.09 to trade at $90.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.26% to 83.26, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 90.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 104.04.
