Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil&Gas, Consumer Durables and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 2.83% or 36.00 points to trade at 1,308.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 1.91% or 93.50 points to end at 4,992.95 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 1.51% or 48.95 points to 3,297.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 6.83% or 163.70 points to trade at 2,233.55 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 4.20% or 31.30 points to end at 714.30 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 3.70% or 13.80 points to 359.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.76% to 1,308.45, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 1.92% to settle at 4,993.60 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.60% to close at 856.25.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.48% to 554.70 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.44% to settle at 250.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.35% to 109.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1443 to 498 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2185 fell and 1149 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.91% or 93.50 to 4,992.95. Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.92% or 93.90 to 4,993.60.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.71% to 11.23.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 3.60 to $1,927.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.61% or 1.12 to hit $68.39 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 1.05 to trade at $73.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 82.03, while EUR/INR fell 0.76% to 89.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 102.65.
