
Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Communication, Transportation Equipment and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706), which rose 10.42% or 397.00 points to trade at 4,208.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253) added 7.96% or 182.50 points to end at 2,475.00 and Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7202) was up 7.68% or 133.00 points to 1,865.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TYO:5707), which fell 25.48% or 400.00 points to trade at 1,170.00 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 14.33% or 700.00 points to end at 4,185.00 and Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (TYO:4021) was down 10.41% or 669.00 points to 5,760.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2179 to 1456 and 227 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) rose to 5-year highs; rising 10.42% or 397.00 to 4,208.00. Shares in Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TYO:5707) fell to 3-years lows; losing 25.48% or 400.00 to 1,170.00. Shares in Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) fell to 5-year lows; losing 14.33% or 700.00 to 4,185.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.72% to 20.00.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.80% or 0.62 to $76.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.77% or 0.63 to hit $80.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 5.75 to trade at $1,943.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.17% to 151.75, while EUR/JPY rose 0.18% to 162.21.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.67.
