
Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Warehousing, Trading and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011), which rose 6.43% or 650.00 points to trade at 10,755.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5214) added 5.88% or 200.00 points to end at 3,604.00 and Nissui Corp (TYO:1332) was up 5.57% or 45.70 points to 865.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Omron Cor (TYO:6645), which fell 15.27% or 1,000.00 points to trade at 5,547.00 at the close. Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) declined 10.07% or 153.00 points to end at 1,367.00 and Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:9064) was down 7.28% or 191.50 points to 2,440.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2416 to 1224 and 236 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 6.43% or 650.00 to 10,755.00. Shares in Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5214) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.88% or 200.00 to 3,604.00. Shares in Nissui Corp (TYO:1332) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.57% or 45.70 to 865.90.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.99% to 19.97.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.04% or 0.03 to $72.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $78.03 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.40 to trade at $2,043.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.20% to 148.38, while EUR/JPY fell 0.14% to 159.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 104.21.
