Investing.com -- Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would "absolutely" be willing to have multiple debates with Vice President Kamala Harris if she secures the nomination for presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention next month.
“I would be willing to do more than one debate, absolutely,” Trump said Tuesday on a call with reporters on Tuesday.
The remarks come just days after President Joe Biden pulled out of the election race and backed Harris as his replacement.
Trump's willingness to debate Harris follows his debate with Biden on June 27, in which the former president is widely believed to have won convincingly. Biden's poor performance, meanwhile, led to calls for him to drop out the race.
Harris has already won the support of the several important Democratic leaders to become the party's nominee for president. The vice president's nomination will be official when Democratic National Committee delegates hold a virtual roll call before Aug. 7.
"We will deliver a presidential nominee by August 7 of this year," DNC chair Jamie Harrison told reporters on a conference call.
