U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.73%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Oil&Gas and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.73%, while the S&P 500 index added 0.67%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which rose 2.81% or 6.11 points to trade at 223.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) added 2.03% or 0.66 points to end at 33.25 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) was up 2.00% or 4.10 points to 209.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which fell 0.24% or 0.06 points to trade at 25.26 at the close. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) declined 0.12% or 0.20 points to end at 161.64 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) was down 0.09% or 0.24 points to 256.38.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Hasbro Inc (NASDAQ:HAS) which rose 5.66% to 69.68, Intuitive Surgical Inc (NASDAQ:ISRG) which was up 4.17% to settle at 297.55 and Intuit Inc (NASDAQ:INTU) which gained 4.12% to close at 519.05.

The worst performers were Advance Auto Parts Inc (NYSE:AAP) which was down 5.64% to 64.08 in late trade, DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) which lost 3.69% to settle at 6.00 and Ulta Beauty Inc (NASDAQ:ULTA) which was down 3.69% to 407.15 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were YS Biopharma Co Ltd (NASDAQ:YS) which rose 65.56% to 1.25, VinFast Auto (NASDAQ:VFS) which was up 40.35% to settle at 68.77 and Alset Capital Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:ACAX) which gained 39.46% to close at 10.85.

The worst performers were Prime Number Acquisition I Corp (NASDAQ:PNAC) which was down 46.95% to 4.26 in late trade, FG Merger Corp (NASDAQ:FGMC) which lost 41.79% to settle at 4.82 and Domo Inc (NASDAQ:DOMO) which was down 35.80% to 10.94 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1722 to 1154 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1797 rose and 1662 declined, while 141 ended unchanged.

Shares in DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.69% or 0.23 to 6.00. Shares in Intuit Inc (NASDAQ:INTU) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.12% or 20.55 to 519.05. Shares in Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 0.24% or 0.06 to 25.26. Shares in Prime Number Acquisition I Corp (NASDAQ:PNAC) fell to all time lows; losing 46.95% or 3.77 to 4.26. Shares in VinFast Auto (NASDAQ:VFS) rose to all time highs; rising 40.35% or 19.77 to 68.77. Shares in FG Merger Corp (NASDAQ:FGMC) fell to all time lows; falling 41.79% or 3.46 to 4.82. Shares in Domo Inc (NASDAQ:DOMO) fell to 3-years lows; down 35.80% or 6.10 to 10.94.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 8.84% to 15.68.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 5.65 to $1,941.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.15% or 0.91 to hit $79.96 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.51% or 1.26 to trade at $84.62 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.38% to 146.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 104.13.
